Let's dive into your cancer diagnosis. During an integrative oncology consult, the patient meets with a healthcare provider who will take a thorough medical history and assess the patient's current health status. The provider will review the patient's previous treatments and medications, as well as their lifestyle habits such as diet, exercise, and stress management. The integrative oncologist will discuss potential complementary therapies that could be incorporated into the patient's treatment plan, such as exercise, nutrition counseling, and mind-body therapies. The goal of the consult is to create a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses the patient's physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, in addition to traditional cancer treatments. The patient and provider will work together to develop a plan that promotes overall health and supports the patient's cancer treatment.
