What is it? Semaglutide and Tirepatide are peptides that mimics a naturally produced hormone called GLP 1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1). These peptides are similar to a naturally occurring hormone in your body and works in the following ways:
​
1. Targets areas of your brain to reduce hunger cravings and slows the rate of digestion so you eat less and stay fuller longer

2. Improves insulin resistance by helping the pancreas release the correct amount of insulin and by moving the sugar from the blood to the tissues where it can be used for energy production.

It was originally prescribed for the treatment of Type II diabetes however clinical trials revealed patients were losing significant weight and it was therefore re marketed as a weight loss drug. Patients have shown to lose an average of 15-20% of their body weight in clinical trials. This can reduce your chances of having a heart attack, stroke, diabetes, kidney failure, nerve damage or other health issues related to high blood glucose and elevated BMI. It is a weekly injection under the skin that you can do at home, and starts to work right away with an average weight loss of at least 2-4lbs per week initially. The dose is up titrated to achieve your individual weight loss goals.
Side effects are minimal and can include some GI upset when you first start it. But don't worry, we have ways to help you avoid these side effects including B vitamin injections and education regarding diet modification which are included in our programs.
